The symptoms of liver and kidney yin deficiency mainly include the following aspects: 1. Liver Yin Deficiency Symptoms: These are primarily manifested as dizziness, blurred vision, dry eyes, decreased vision, as well as dry mouth and throat, feverish sensations in the palms and soles, and night sweats. Physical examination may reveal a red tongue with little or no coating and a dry quality. Liver yin deficiency also can cause irritability, anger, and mood swings. 2. Kidney Yin Deficiency Symptoms: Common symptoms include weakness and soreness in the lower back and knees, dizziness, tinnitus, loose teeth, hair loss, and similar manifestations. In men, symptoms such as seminal emission or premature ejaculation may appear, while in women, symptoms such as reduced menstrual flow, amenorrhea, or metrorrhagia may occur. Body wasting, tidal fever with night sweats, five-palm heat (feverish sensation in the hands and feet), and dry throat with flushed cheeks also are common in kidney yin deficiency. 3. Combined Liver-Kidney Yin Deficiency Symptoms: These often are seen in conditions such as lumbago, blood deficiency, vertigo, early menstruation, amenorrhea, and dysmenorrhea. Symptoms include five-palm heat, flushed cheeks with night sweats, dry mouth and throat, body wasting, a red tongue with little or no coating. The above symptoms may appear alone or coexist. Patients are advised to seek timely medical treatment and undergo syndrome differentiation and treatment according to TCM principles.
