Does Smectite Powder treat intestinal colic?

Smectite powder is not suitable for the treatment of intestinal angina. Intestinal angina mainly refers to postprandial abdominal pain caused by intestinal ischemia, and the intensity of pain is closely related to the amount of food intake. Smectite powder is primarily used as an antidiarrheal medication for the treatment of acute and chronic diarrhea in adults and children, as well as for the adjunctive management of pain symptoms associated with diseases of the esophagus, stomach, and duodenum. However, it is not used as a spasmolytic agent and therefore cannot directly alleviate intestinal angina. Treatment for intestinal angina generally includes applying heat and massage to the abdomen, and selecting appropriate medications such as aspirin under a doctor's guidance to dilate blood vessels and relieve pain. In cases of severe or recurrent symptoms, surgical treatment might be necessary.
