Dr. Shen Yonghua
The staging of duodenal bulb ulcers is primarily based on endoscopic findings and is divided into three phases: 1. Active phase: During this phase, the ulcer surface is congested and edematous, with blood exudation, and there may be a risk of perforation. Patients often experience retrosternal burning sensation and upper abdominal pain, requiring active treatment. 2. Healing phase: A white or yellowish-white scar appears on the ulcer surface, with partial formation of repaired tissue, and patients experience significant pain. Continued treatment and dietary adjustments are necessary. 3. Scar phase: The ulcer scar matures further, turning white or black, possibly accompanied by calcification. Persistent pain may occur, and patients still need to pay attention to diet and lifestyle habits.
