I often have fevers. Previously, I read news online stating that fever can enhance immunity. I would like to know, does fever actually strengthen the immune system?

Fever itself does not directly enhance resistance, but it can be regarded as a natural response of the body's immune system when dealing with infections or illnesses. When the body detects an invasion of viruses, bacteria, or other pathogens, it triggers a series of immune responses, including the release of inflammatory cytokines, which lead to an increase in body temperature—commonly known as fever. This rise in temperature can actually help the body fight pathogens more effectively, as many pathogens reproduce more slowly at higher temperatures. Fever itself does not strengthen resistance; rather, the body is using the high-temperature environment to restrict the activity of pathogens. Therefore, fever is a way for the body to combat infection, but it does not mean that fever itself enhances resistance. When experiencing a fever, it is important to monitor body temperature, rest appropriately, stay hydrated, and seek medical assistance when necessary.
