Can mouthwash relieve toothache?
Disease description:
I have had a slight toothache these days. My husband suggested using mouthwash to relieve it. I would like to know whether moxibustion is effective for tooth pain.

Mouthwash may play a certain auxiliary role in relieving toothache but is not a primary treatment method. Toothache is usually caused by inflammation, injury, or infection of the teeth or periodontal tissues, while the main functions of mouthwash are to freshen breath, remove food debris, and some bacteria from the mouth. Mouthwashes containing specific medicinal ingredients may have anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects and can alleviate symptoms of toothache to some extent. However, for severe toothache or persistent pain, it is recommended to seek timely medical attention for professional diagnosis and treatment by a dentist. Therefore, mouthwash can be part of daily oral care but should not be used as the sole means of treating toothache.
