Is right lower abdominal pain a symptom of chronic appendicitis?

Disease description:

I have been experiencing frequent pain in the lower right abdomen for the past month. That area seems to be where the appendix is located. May I ask if pain in the lower right abdomen indicates chronic appendicitis?

Right lower quadrant abdominal pain is not necessarily indicative of chronic appendicitis, as pain in this area can be caused by multiple factors. Although chronic appendicitis can indeed cause right lower quadrant pain, other conditions such as space-occupying lesions in the ileocecal region (e.g., colon cancer), typhlitis, urinary system stones, and gynecological inflammations (e.g., pelvic inflammatory disease, adnexitis) may also produce similar symptoms. Therefore, based solely on the symptom of right lower quadrant abdominal pain, chronic appendicitis cannot be definitively diagnosed. The appropriate approach is to seek timely medical attention, allowing qualified physicians to perform examinations and establish an accurate diagnosis for targeted treatment.
