Can Cefalexin Capsules treat toothache?
Disease description:
I've had a bit of pain in my back tooth recently, and I'm thinking about taking some Cefalexin Capsules. Can Cefalexin Capsules treat toothache?

Cefalexin capsules, as an antibiotic, primarily function to combat bacterial infections and reduce inflammation. They are indicated for the treatment of various infections caused by susceptible bacteria, such as respiratory tract infections, urinary tract diseases, and skin infections. Although dental pain is not explicitly listed among the indications for cefalexin capsules, they may serve as an adjunct in treating dental pain caused by bacterial infection, especially when inflammation of the teeth leads to swelling and pain of the gums. In such cases, cefalexin capsules may help alleviate mild dental pain symptoms resulting from inflammation.
It should be noted that cefalexin capsules cannot fundamentally cure dental pain, particularly when the pain is severe. Relying solely on cefalexin may yield limited effectiveness under such circumstances. At this stage, it is recommended that patients follow medical advice to combine other medications (e.g., ibuprofen sustained-release capsules) or consider more direct and effective treatment options, such as root canal therapy.
