Disease description:

I have been experiencing frequent stomach pain recently, especially after meals. I think it might be because I don't exercise much and tend to lie down right after eating. I am considering taking some Ginseng Spleen-Strengthening Pills (Renshen Jianpi Wan) to help regulate my digestion. Are these pills suitable for me to take?

Ren Shen Jian Pi Wan is a type of traditional Chinese patent medicine that can be taken, but its use should be based on individual conditions and guided by a physician's advice. The main functions of Ren Shen Jian Pi Wan are to strengthen the spleen and replenish vital energy (Qi), and to harmonize the stomach and stop diarrhea. It is suitable for various symptoms caused by weakness of the spleen and stomach, such as poor digestion, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and loose stools. It is composed of multiple herbs including ginseng, atractylodes, and poria, providing excellent effects in invigorating Qi and strengthening the spleen. However, it should be noted that although Ren Shen Jian Pi Wan is effective in strengthening the spleen, it should not be taken for prolonged periods, as it belongs to the category of tonic formulas, and certain ingredients might contribute to heat accumulation in the body. For patients with spleen and stomach deficiency, it is generally recommended to take this medication for 1–3 months under a physician's guidance to observe improvement in symptoms. Furthermore, Ren Shen Jian Pi Wan is not suitable for everyone, and long-term use may cause some side effects such as dry mouth, nasal dryness, and constipation. Therefore, it is best to undergo appropriate medical examinations at a hospital before using this medication and to strictly follow the physician's instructions.
