What are the symptoms of heatstroke and how is it treated?
Disease description:
A few days ago, we went camping. The weather was a bit hot, and after returning home, my daughter said she didn't feel well. Her father wondered whether she might have heatstroke. I would like to know what the symptoms of heatstroke are and how it should be treated.
Symptoms of Heatstroke:
1. Early signs of heatstroke: dizziness, headache, thirst, excessive sweating, weakness in limbs; body temperature is normal or slightly elevated.
2. Mild heatstroke: in addition to the above symptoms, body temperature rises above 38°C, accompanied by flushed face, chest tightness, hot skin, and possible rapid pulse and decreased blood pressure.
3. Severe heatstroke: body temperature may exceed 40°C, with absence of sweating, impaired consciousness, and potentially severe symptoms such as convulsions and shock.
Treatment for Heatstroke:
1. Rapid cooling: move to a cool place, remove excess clothing, and apply cool, wet towels or ice packs to lower body temperature.
2. Rehydration and electrolyte replacement: drink salted beverages or diluted saltwater to replenish fluids and electrolytes lost through sweating.
3. Medication: if symptoms are severe, take heatstroke-relieving medications such as Huoxiang Zhengqi Shui (Agastache whorl herb rectifying liquid) or Shi Di Shui (Ten Drop Water).
4. Seek medical attention: patients with severe heatstroke should seek immediate professional medical treatment.
