How to relieve tooth pain after root canal treatment
Disease description:
I had a root canal treatment two or three days ago, and my tooth has started hurting again recently. How can I relieve the pain after a root canal treatment?

It is normal to experience tooth pain after root canal treatment, and the pain usually subsides on its own within 1–2 weeks. To help alleviate the discomfort, the following measures can be taken:
1. Medication: Under a doctor's guidance, over-the-counter medications such as ibuprofen or acetaminophen may be taken according to the instructions on the label to effectively relieve pain. If the pain is caused by an infection, antibiotics such as amoxicillin capsules or metronidazole tablets may also be required.
2. Cold compress: Apply an ice pack externally to the affected area for 10–15 minutes at a time, 2–3 times daily, to help reduce pain and swelling.
3. Oral hygiene: Brush your teeth at least twice daily, use mouthwash, and maintain good oral hygiene to reduce the risk of infection.
4. Avoid hard foods: Choose soft or liquid foods that are easy to digest, to reduce stress on the affected tooth.
If the pain continues to worsen, or if severe swelling, pus, or other serious symptoms develop, prompt medical attention is recommended.
