What are the symptoms of gastric perforation and gastric ulcer?
Disease description:
Recently experiencing frequent stomach pain, haven't undergone any examinations, unsure whether it's caused by a perforated stomach or peptic ulcer. What are the symptoms of a perforated stomach and peptic ulcer?
Gastric perforation and gastric ulcer have their own distinct symptoms, but there is also some overlap. The main manifestations of gastric ulcers include:
1. **Abdominal pain**: Usually occurs in the upper abdomen half an hour to one hour after a meal. The pain may be dull, aching, or distending, and tends to be rhythmic.
2. **Gastrointestinal symptoms**: Such as heartburn, belching, nausea, vomiting, and loss of appetite.
3. **Systemic symptoms**: Long-term gastric ulcers may lead to weight loss and anemia.
In contrast, gastric perforation is more severe, with typical symptoms including:
1. **Sudden severe abdominal pain**: Begins in the upper abdomen and rapidly spreads throughout the abdomen, often described as excruciating.
2. **Signs of shock**: As the condition progresses, symptoms such as pallor, cold sweats, rapid and weak pulse, and a drop in blood pressure may occur.
3. **Nausea and vomiting**: May be accompanied by abdominal distension and constipation.
4. **Other symptoms**: Such as fever and an elevated white blood cell count.
