Why is there difficulty in defecation even though the stool is not dry?
Disease description:
I have had difficulty passing stools these past few days, but my stools are not dry and appear normal. May I ask why there is difficulty passing stools even when they are not dry?
Difficulty in passing stools despite normal stool consistency may be caused by various factors, mainly including:
1. Insufficient intestinal motility: Electrolyte disturbances (such as low sodium, low potassium) can lead to slow intestinal peristalsis.
2. Dietary factors: Inadequate intake of fiber and a monotonous diet can reduce stimulation of colonic motility.
3. Medication effects: Certain medications, such as antidepressants and anticholinergics, may inhibit intestinal peristalsis.
4. Psychological and physiological factors: Psychological stress, lack of physical activity, and age-related decline in digestive function can all affect intestinal motility.
5. Disease-related factors: Bowel disorders such as colitis, proctitis, and irritable bowel syndrome, as well as neurological conditions like Parkinson's disease, may also cause difficulty in defecation.
