The main causes of appendicitis include: 1. Lifestyle habits: Unhealthy lifestyle habits, such as vigorous exercise after meals, long-term alcohol consumption, excessive fatigue, and irregular作息 (作息 should be translated as "rest patterns" or "sleep schedules"), may trigger appendicitis. 2. Dietary factors: Consuming spicy, irritating, raw, cold, or unclean food can easily lead to gastrointestinal dysfunction, affect appendix emptying and local blood circulation, and increase the risk of appendicitis. 3. Luminal obstruction: The appendix has a narrow and long lumen with a small opening, making it susceptible to blockage by food residue, fecal stones, roundworms, or other foreign bodies. This can increase pressure within the appendix, impair blood circulation, and lead to inflammation. 4. Bacterial infection: Bacterial invasion within the appendix, such as aerobic and anaerobic bacteria, can enter through mucosal ulcers or directly infiltrate the appendix wall, causing suppurative infection. Bacteria may also reach the appendix via hematogenous (blood-borne) spread.
