What to do if you experience gastric bleeding after drinking alcohol
Disease description:
I usually enjoy having a little alcohol and drink something every day. This time, my stomach was feeling unwell before drinking, and after drinking, I experienced a stomach hemorrhage. Could you please tell me what to do in case of a stomach bleed after drinking alcohol?
After experiencing gastrointestinal bleeding following alcohol consumption, the following measures should be taken immediately:
1. Fasting and no water intake: Stop eating and drinking to avoid worsening the bleeding.
2. Seek emergency medical care: Go to the hospital as soon as possible for treatment based on the volume and severity of bleeding.
3. Medication therapy: For minor bleeding, acid-suppressing medications such as proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) or H2 receptor antagonists may be used; for significant bleeding, intravenous access should be established to replenish blood volume and hemostatic drugs should be administered.
4. Endoscopic hemostasis: In cases of substantial bleeding, emergency endoscopy can be performed to achieve hemostasis.
5. Nutritional support: During the fasting period, provide total parenteral nutrition to maintain fluid and electrolyte balance.
