What kind of medication is Tramadol?
Disease description:
Recently, I have been feeling unwell all over and constantly experiencing pain. After visiting the hospital for a checkup, my doctor prescribed me tramadol. I would like to know what tramadol is.

Tramadol is a synthetic non-opioid central analgesic medication, also known as tramadol hydrochloride and flubentan. Its main mechanism of action is to affect the transmission of pain signals in the nervous system by blocking the reuptake of serotonin and norepinephrine in the body, thereby achieving pain relief. Tramadol's analgesic potency is approximately one-tenth to one-eighth that of morphine. However, it does not suppress respiration, has a relatively lower risk of addiction, and has minimal effects on the heart, liver, and kidneys, making it safe and reliable.
Tramadol is primarily used to relieve moderate to severe pain, such as cancer pain, postoperative pain, and neuropathic pain. It is administered orally or by injection in clinical settings and has a significant therapeutic effect. However, tramadol is classified as a Category II psychotropic substance and must be used under a physician's guidance. Long-term use may lead to drug tolerance or dependence; therefore, patients with a risk of drug abuse or dependency should use it with caution.
