What should be noted about kidney stone pain?
Disease description:
My mother has kidney stones and has not undergone surgery yet; she has been receiving treatment with medication. She has also been feeling very distressed emotionally. May I ask, what should one pay attention to regarding kidney stone pain?

When experiencing pain from kidney stones, the following points should be noted:
1. **Prompt pain relief**: You can try drinking hot water, applying heat to the waist area (using a warm wet towel or hot water bottle), and pressing the Shenshu acupoint to help alleviate the pain. If the pain is severe, seek medical attention promptly and use painkillers as directed by a physician.
2. **Avoid unhealthy habits**: Refrain from smoking and drinking alcohol. Avoid consuming irritating foods such as raw, cold, spicy, fried, and barbecued dishes, as well as foods high in fat, cholesterol, and purines, such as seafood and animal offal.
3. **Increase fluid intake**: It is recommended to consume more than four liters of fluids daily, which can help expel the stones and relieve pain.
4. **Adequate rest**: Rest in bed more often during episodes of pain and avoid strenuous physical activity.
5. **Active treatment**: Choose appropriate treatment options based on the size and location of the stone, such as medication, extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy (ESWL), or surgical intervention.
