Dr. Wang Xin
Calcium ion antagonists, also known as calcium channel blockers, are mainly divided into two categories: dihydropyridines and non-dihydropyridines. Dihydropyridines include various medications such as nifedipine, amlodipine, nicardipine, and nitrendipine. These drugs primarily lower blood pressure by inhibiting calcium ion influx in vascular smooth muscle, thereby dilating blood vessels, and are widely used in the treatment of cardiovascular diseases such as hypertension and angina pectoris. Non-dihydropyridines mainly include verapamil and diltiazem. These medications, in addition to their antihypertensive effects, are also commonly used in the treatment of arrhythmias and coronary artery disease. Other types of calcium ion antagonists, such as flunarizine and prenylamine, are also available but are less commonly used in clinical practice. Patients with concerns are advised to promptly consult a healthcare professional.
