Disease description:

A 17-year-old male, with no family history of axillary odor (bromhidrosis). However, during summer, there is always an unpleasant odor under the armpits. I have never seen a doctor and believe my condition is acquired bromhidrosis. I would like to ask whether acquired bromhidrosis can be completely cured?

Dr. Wang Xiaoyan
Acquired axillary osmidrosis (bromhidrosis) can generally be cured through surgical treatment. Surgery, including laser ablation of apocrine glands, sweat gland excision, and apocrine gland removal, is a more radical approach. These procedures can prevent local sweat gland secretion and achieve a curative effect. Surgical treatment should be performed at a reputable hospital's dermatology department, with the appropriate surgical method selected under a physician's guidance. In addition, daily care and topical applications, such as using aluminum chloride solution, may provide some inhibitory effects but cannot completely cure the condition. Therefore, for acquired axillary osmidrosis, timely medical consultation is recommended to choose an appropriate treatment method based on individual circumstances.
