What are the symptoms of hepatitis A?
Disease description:
I have been feeling very unwell these days and also have a high fever. After going to the hospital for a checkup, I was diagnosed with hepatitis A. May I ask what are the symptoms of hepatitis A?
Hepatitis A, also known as hepatitis A viral infection, is an acute liver inflammation caused by the hepatitis A virus. Its main symptoms include: initially, fatigue, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, and other gastrointestinal discomforts, similar to mild flu-like symptoms that are easily overlooked; subsequently, jaundice gradually develops, characterized by yellowing of the skin and sclera (white of the eyes), darkened urine resembling the color of tea, and possibly lighter-colored stools; at the same time, some patients may experience pain or discomfort in the liver area, enlarged liver, and tenderness upon light palpation; in addition, systemic symptoms such as fever, chills, and joint pain may also occur. The course of hepatitis A is generally self-limiting, with most patients recovering within several weeks; however, a few severe cases may develop serious complications such as liver failure. Therefore, if the above symptoms appear, timely medical attention should be sought to avoid delaying the condition.
