Disease description:

Recently, a small red pimple has appeared on my beard area. After it had previously formed a scab, it started to reappear these past couple of days. I was diagnosed with folliculitis. May I ask if folliculitis can be completely cured?

Dr. Wang Xiaoyan
Folliculitis can generally be completely cured in most cases. Folliculitis is primarily categorized into infectious folliculitis and non-infectious folliculitis. Infectious folliculitis is caused by bacterial infection and usually can be effectively treated and cured through self-resolution or medication. Non-infectious folliculitis, on the other hand, is associated with immune function and allergic reactions of the body, making it potentially more complex to treat and possibly difficult to cure completely. However, overall, with appropriate treatment methods and proper daily care, the cure rate for folliculitis is relatively high. Patients should still pay attention to maintaining skin hygiene after treatment to prevent recurrence. It is recommended that patients undergo standardized treatment under a doctor's guidance and maintain good personal hygiene habits to prevent future occurrences of folliculitis.
