What causes tinea cruris?
Disease description:
You have been feeling itchy in the buttocks area recently, and after going to the hospital for an examination, you were diagnosed with tinea cruris (jock itch). How then does tinea cruris develop?

Tinea corporis/groin (ringworm) is a skin disease mainly caused by fungal infections. Common pathogenic fungi include Trichophyton rubrum and Trichophyton mentagrophytes. The causes of this condition include:
1. **Fungal infection**: This is the primary cause of tinea corporis/groin. It can be transmitted through direct contact with infected individuals, animals (such as cats and dogs) suffering from fungal infections, or indirectly through contact with contaminated clothing or objects.
2. **Warm, humid environments**: Warm and moist conditions favor fungal growth and reproduction, increasing the risk of infection.
3. **Poor personal hygiene**: For example, not changing underwear frequently or not cleaning the body promptly creates conditions favorable for fungal survival and proliferation.
4. **Weakened immune system**: A decline in immunity weakens resistance to fungal infections, thereby increasing the risk of infection.
5. **Other factors**: Such as long-term wear of tight clothing, diabetes, and chronic debilitating diseases, which may also increase the risk of developing tinea corporis/groin.
