Disease description:

I am 30 years old. Ten days after intercourse, my period is 5 days late, so I took a pregnancy test. It showed one line, and I'm not quite sure what this means. Could you please explain how to read a pregnancy test result?

Pregnancy symptoms vary greatly and typically indicate significant physiological changes occurring within a woman's body. In early pregnancy, one of the most common signs is the cessation of menstruation, indicating that hormone levels have adjusted to support the pregnancy. Subsequently, some women may experience breast tenderness and swelling, accompanied by darkening of the areolas and breast enlargement, which result from hormonal stimulation of breast development. Increased fatigue, mood swings, changes in appetite, and even nausea and vomiting (known as morning sickness) may also occur. These gastrointestinal symptoms arise due to the effects of hormonal changes on various body systems. As pregnancy progresses, symptoms such as frequent urination, discomfort in the lower back, and gradual weight gain may appear. Although not every pregnant woman will experience all of these symptoms, they generally reflect the body's adjustments to accommodate the developing fetus during the early stages of pregnancy.
