Symptoms of Heat Rash in Adults
Disease description:
I have recently been feeling itchy all over my body. Today during the day, I noticed some small white blisters appearing on the itchy areas, which look somewhat like prickly heat. I would like to know, what are the symptoms of prickly heat in adults?
The symptoms of heat rash in adults are diverse, mainly including skin rashes and subjective symptoms, which are closely related to the type of heat rash. Generally, heat rash can be classified into several types: crystalline miliaria (miliaria crystallina), red heat rash (miliaria rubra), pustular miliaria, and deep-seated miliaria (miliaria profunda). Crystalline miliaria presents as small, transparent vesicles the size of a pinhead, without surrounding erythema, and is usually asymptomatic. Red heat rash manifests as numerous 2–4 mm papules and papulovesicles clustered together, often accompanied by itching and a burning sensation. Pustular miliaria features pinpoint-sized pustules on top of the papules, causing symptoms of itching, burning, and even pain. In severe cases, systemic symptoms such as fever, fatigue, and dizziness may occur. Deep-seated miliaria primarily appears as papules aligned with sweat duct openings, possibly asymptomatic, but when widespread, may also cause symptoms such as headache and fever.
Preventive and treatment measures should consider multiple factors comprehensively, including improving environmental conditions, maintaining clean and dry skin, and wearing loose, breathable clothing. Additionally, topical medications may be used under a physician's guidance to relieve itching and promote resolution of inflammation.
