What causes retinal hemorrhage?
Disease description:
My eyes have been bleeding for the past few days, and it looks really alarming. I would like to ask the doctor, what causes bleeding in the retina?

Retinal hemorrhage is usually caused by vascular lesions in the eye. Common causes include the following:
1. Diabetic retinopathy: High blood sugar damages microvessels, leading to retinal bleeding.
2. Retinal vein occlusion: Formation of a blood clot within a vessel impedes blood flow and causes hemorrhage.
3. Age-related macular degeneration: With aging, blood vessels in the macular region become fragile and may bleed.
4. Retinal tear or detachment: Fluid from inside the eye seeps underneath the retina, sometimes accompanied by bleeding.
5. Vascular inflammation: Ocular inflammatory responses triggered by diseases such as tuberculosis or syphilis.
6. Eye trauma: Hemorrhage may occur following injury, such as blunt impact, or after surgery.
7. Hypertension: Long-term uncontrolled high blood pressure can affect the blood vessels of the retina.
8. Eye tumors: Certain ocular tumors may cause bleeding.
Note: If retinal hemorrhage occurs, along with vision loss or dark shadows in the visual field, immediate medical attention is necessary.
