Dr. Luo Yong
Yellow urine is usually caused by insufficient body hydration, which leads to concentrated urine and increased concentration of urochrome, naturally appearing yellow. This is a normal physiological phenomenon. Changes in urine color may also be related to other factors: 1. Dietary influence: Consuming large amounts of food or beverages containing yellow pigments (such as carrots, citrus fruits, or certain medications) may also cause yellow urine. 2. Dehydration: Not drinking water for extended periods or excessive sweating after intense physical activity can cause dehydration, leading to concentrated urine. 3. Medication effects: Certain medications, such as vitamin B2 (riboflavin), diuretics, or antibiotics, may also turn urine yellow. 4. Pathological conditions: In cases of liver or biliary diseases, such as hepatitis or bile duct obstruction, bilirubin may enter the urine, causing dark yellow urine, known as bilirubinuria. 5. Urinary tract infection: Infections may cause foul-smelling urine and changes in color. If urine remains persistently dark yellow and is accompanied by other symptoms such as frequent urination, painful urination, fever, or abdominal pain, prompt medical evaluation is advised.
