Keratitis, as an eye disease, should not be underestimated in terms of its severity. If not treated promptly and correctly, keratitis may lead to serious consequences. The cornea, as the transparent front part of the eyeball, plays a crucial role in maintaining vision. When inflammation occurs in the cornea, if it spreads to the corneal stroma, it may cause severe complications such as corneal ulcers and perforation, leading to vision loss or even blindness. Even if the inflammation is controlled, scarring may remain after corneal healing, resulting in irreversible effects on vision.

The severity of keratitis is also reflected in its potential to be caused by various factors, including microbial infections, trauma, and physical or chemical irritations. Different causes of keratitis require different treatment approaches.

If symptoms such as photophobia, tearing, visual impairment, burning, or pain occur, prompt medical attention should be sought.
