I have diabetes myself, and when I go to the hospital for checkups, they examine my carotid artery. I would like to ask the doctor: who needs to have their carotid artery checked?

5. Individuals experiencing symptoms of transient ischemic attack (TIA) or stroke: These may serve as warning signs of carotid artery stenosis.
6. Irregular heartbeat (atrial fibrillation): Patients with atrial fibrillation have a higher risk of stroke, and carotid artery examination helps assess this risk.
