Dr. Jiang Chenggang
Gallbladder polypoid lesions are tumor-like lesions formed within the gallbladder, with morphological and histological features similar to polyps. These lesions are usually caused by hyperplasia and polypoid transformation of gallbladder mucosal epithelial cells, characterized by localized proliferation of the mucosal epithelium forming structures resembling polyps. Gallbladder polypoid lesions vary in size and morphology, and can be single or multiple, with diameters typically ranging from 1 to 10 millimeters. Although gallbladder polypoid lesions are generally benign, they carry a certain risk of malignancy, especially when the polyp diameter exceeds 1 centimeter, at which point the risk of malignant transformation significantly increases. Patients should undergo regular gallbladder ultrasound or other imaging examinations, as well as relevant tumor marker tests, to promptly detect any changes in the lesion and potential malignancy.
