First Aid for Electric Shock
I often see news about electric shocks and would like to ask the doctor: What is the first aid procedure for electric shock?
After an electric shock accident, the following are the basic steps for first aid:
1. Ensure safety: Disconnect the power source or use a non-conductive object to move the victim away. Do not touch the victim or the electrical wire directly.
2. Check the victim: Once safe, immediately check the victim's consciousness and breathing. If there is no response and no breathing, begin cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), performing cycles of 30 chest compressions followed by 2 rescue breaths.
3. Call for help: Immediately dial the local emergency number, inform them of the situation, and wait for professional medical personnel to arrive. Continue CPR while waiting.
4. Treat wounds: If there are visible burns, do not attempt to clean them or apply any substances, as this may damage the burned area. Wait for medical personnel to handle the burns.
