What blood type is Rh-negative blood?
Disease description:
I saw on TV that "panda blood" refers to Rh-negative blood. I would like to know, what kind of blood type is Rh-negative?
Rh-negative blood is a very special blood type, also known as "panda blood," because its prevalence in the population is extremely low. Specifically, Rh-negative blood refers to a blood type that does not carry the Rh factor (i.e., the D antigen), which is a classification within the Rh blood group system. Within the Rh blood group system, if red blood cells carry the D antigen, they are referred to as Rh-positive; if they lack the D antigen, they are referred to as Rh-negative.
Individuals with Rh-negative blood type require special attention during blood transfusions because they can only receive transfusions of Rh-negative or O-type Rh-negative blood to avoid triggering immune reactions such as hemolytic reactions. Additionally, pregnant women with Rh-negative blood type also require special care during pregnancy because if they are carrying an Rh-positive fetus, Rh hemolytic disease may occur. This is a serious condition that can cause severe harm or even death to the fetus.
