How is emphysema treated?
Disease description:
I was diagnosed with emphysema a week ago and would like to know how emphysema can be treated to achieve recovery.
The treatment of emphysema mainly includes the following aspects:
1. General treatment: Patients must quit smoking, avoid exposure to smoke and harmful gases, improve their living environment, keep warm, and prevent colds.
2. Medication: Appropriate bronchodilator drugs, such as aminophylline and β2-adrenergic agonists, should be used according to the patient's condition. Effective antibiotics, such as penicillin and cephalosporins, should be selected based on pathogen identification or clinical experience to control infection.
3. Physical therapy: Includes respiratory muscle training, such as diaphragmatic breathing and pursed-lip deep slow exhalation, to enhance respiratory muscle function.
4. Surgical treatment: For patients with severe disease and extensive lung tissue damage, surgical interventions such as lung volume reduction surgery or lung transplantation may be required.
