The main reasons for recurring jock itch (tinea cruris) are as follows: 1. Poor local hygiene: One of the primary causes of recurring fungal infections is inadequate hygiene. Failure to maintain proper cleanliness in the affected area may lead to fungal growth and subsequent recurrence of jock itch. 2. Climatic factors: Excessively hot or humid weather, especially when wearing tight clothing, may hinder proper sweat drainage and create a warm, moist environment favorable for fungal growth. 3. Incomplete treatment: Discontinuing medication prematurely or not completing the prescribed treatment course may prevent complete eradication of the fungus, contributing significantly to recurrence. 4. Influence of other diseases: If the patient also suffers from other fungal infections such as hand or foot癣 (tinea manuum, tinea pedis) or body癣 (tinea corporis), scratching and subsequent contact may spread the infection to the groin area, leading to recurring jock itch. To reduce recurrence, patients should maintain good local hygiene, wear breathable and loose-fitting clothing, avoid prolonged exposure to hot and humid environments, and follow medical advice for complete treatment.
