What is Henoch-Schönlein purpura nephritis?
I have been experiencing cold sweats frequently lately. After examination, I was diagnosed with Henoch-Schönlein purpura nephritis. I don't know what this is and would like to understand: what kind of disease is Henoch-Schönlein purpura nephritis?

IgA vasculitis nephritis, also known as Henoch-Schönlein purpura nephritis, is a kidney disease that develops secondary to Henoch-Schönlein purpura. Henoch-Schönlein purpura is a type of vasculitis primarily caused by an immune response, leading to inflammation and bleeding in the walls of small blood vessels, which manifests as purple spots or bruises on the skin. When this inflammatory process affects the kidneys, it can result in Henoch-Schönlein purpura nephritis.
The disease is characterized by inflammation of blood vessel walls and platelet deposition, which may damage the glomerular filtration barrier, leading to proteinuria, hematuria, and abnormal kidney function. Patients may experience symptoms such as edema and hypertension. In severe cases, the condition can progress to nephrotic syndrome or chronic kidney failure.
If any symptoms occur, prompt medical attention is recommended.
