Will losing weight eliminate stretch marks caused by obesity?
Disease description:
I'm still very young, but my body is quite overweight with stretch marks from obesity, which looks really unattractive. I'd like to know, if I lose weight, will these stretch marks disappear?

Stretch marks, medically referred to as striae atrophicans, generally do not disappear after weight loss. However, with active skin care, their appearance may fade to some extent.
Stretch marks are usually caused by rapid weight gain, which overstretches the skin's elastic fibers, resulting in pale red or white streaks on the skin. As stretch marks are difficult to eliminate completely, the damaged elastic fibers in the skin often remain after weight loss, and the marks generally do not fade on their own.
If the stretch marks are particularly noticeable and affect appearance, patients may apply topical medications such as asiaticoside cream or vitamin E lotion under a doctor's guidance. These treatments may inhibit fibroblast proliferation and help fade the stretch marks, but consistent daily application is required. When necessary, patients may also consider laser therapy under medical supervision, which can stimulate collagen production and help reduce the appearance of stretch marks. Therefore, after weight loss, stretch marks typically do not fade naturally and require ongoing active care.
It is recommended that patients maintain proper skincare, avoid prolonged exposure to ultraviolet light to prevent interference with skin metabolism, ensure adequate rest, and maintain sufficient sleep to avoid endocrine disorders.
