Generally, the recommended effective usage time for an N90 mask is 4 hours, after which it should be replaced promptly. If the mask is damaged, contaminated, or if breathing becomes difficult or the mask becomes deformed, it should be replaced immediately to ensure protective effectiveness.
In low-risk environments, an undamaged and dry N90 mask may be worn continuously for about 8 hours. However, in highly polluted or virus-transmitting environments, or if the mask becomes wet, deformed, or contaminated, it should be replaced immediately. Additionally, if breathing resistance increases, this may also indicate that the mask needs to be replaced.
Before reusing an N90 mask, be sure to follow the manufacturer's guidelines to ensure proper storage and cleaning (if applicable). When working in healthcare settings or facing high exposure risks, stricter replacement frequency should be followed to ensure personal protection.
