What causes pimples and bumps on the back?
Disease description:
I felt some itching on my back while showering. When I touched it with my hand, I found a lump. After visiting the hospital, the doctor said it was a pimple. Why do pimples appear on the back?

Acne on the back, medically known as acne vulgaris, is a chronic inflammatory skin condition that occurs in the hair follicles and sebaceous glands. The main causes of its development include:
1. Excessive secretion of androgens: During puberty, increased androgen levels stimulate the sebaceous glands to produce excess oil, creating a foundation for the development of acne.
2. Follicular hyperkeratosis: The opening of the hair follicle becomes narrowed due to keratinization, preventing sebum from being discharged smoothly and leading to its accumulation within the follicle, forming comedones.
3. Proliferation of Propionibacterium acnes: This bacterium breaks down sebum, producing free fatty acids that irritate the follicle, causing inflammation and subsequently leading to acne formation.
4. Other factors: Such as dietary irritants (spicy, greasy foods), poor skin hygiene (accumulation of oil and sweat), hormonal imbalances, and long-term sleep deprivation, which may also trigger or exacerbate the formation of acne on the back.
