Disease description:

A small red pimple recently appeared on my beard area. After it had previously scabbed over, it started to reappear these past couple of days. I was diagnosed with folliculitis. Is folliculitis curable completely?

Folliculitis can generally be completely cured in most cases, but the difficulty of treatment and the risk of recurrence vary depending on the type. 1. Infectious folliculitis: Mainly caused by bacterial infections, such as Staphylococcus aureus. This type of folliculitis can usually be cured through spontaneous recovery or medication (e.g., antibiotics, topical ointments). However, under conditions such as weakened immunity or poor hygiene, it may easily recur. 2. Non-infectious folliculitis: Related to immune function or allergic reactions, this type may be more complex to treat and potentially difficult to cure completely. Currently, glucocorticoids or immunosuppressants are often used to control symptoms, but eliminating the root cause is challenging.
