The recommended wearing time for disposable masks is typically 4 to 6 hours, and should not exceed 8 hours whenever possible. This recommendation considers both the protective effectiveness of the mask and the wearer's comfort. If the mask does not become visibly soiled, deformed, damaged, or develop an odor during use, its wearing time may be appropriately extended, but should not exceed 8 hours in principle. In high-risk environments or when directly exposed to pathogens, masks should be replaced more frequently, preferably no later than 4 hours. If the mask becomes contaminated with droplets, saliva, or comes into contact with high-risk individuals, it should be replaced immediately regardless of how long it has been worn. Disposable masks are not designed for reuse and should not be washed. Washing may damage the fiber structure of the mask and reduce its protective effectiveness. When wearing a mask, ensure it is properly positioned to prevent the contaminated side from facing inward toward the wearer.
