Dr. Wang Xin
Patients with bradycardia should use Shengmai Yin cautiously. Shengmai Yin primarily functions to replenish Qi and restore pulse, and to nourish Yin and promote body fluid production. It may help alleviate symptoms such as Qi-Yin deficiency, palpitations, and shortness of breath. However, its effectiveness in improving bradycardia is not clear and may vary among individuals. For patients with physiological bradycardia, such as vagus nerve hyperactivity or decreased heart rate in athletes, specific treatment is usually unnecessary, and the value of Shengmai Yin in such cases is limited. In cases of pathological bradycardia, such as third-degree atrioventricular block, Shengmai Yin may not significantly increase heart rate and could potentially affect the condition due to its antiarrhythmic effects. Therefore, patients with bradycardia should consult a physician before taking Shengmai Yin to understand their medical condition and whether its use is appropriate. Particularly, patients with a heart rate below 50 beats per minute accompanied by obvious symptoms or underlying diseases, as well as those with severe cardiac conduction disorders, should avoid using this medication.
