High muscle tone manifestations
Disease description:
I have a friend who is 35 years old, and her child is 6 years old. Recently, I heard that her child has developed high muscle tone, but I have never heard of this condition before. Doctor, what are the manifestations of high muscle tone?

The main manifestations of increased muscle tone include the following:
1. Limb stiffness: Increased muscle tone causes limbs to become stiff and movement to be inflexible. In the upper limbs, this may present as clumsy hand movements, or stiff hands while walking, with no arm swing; in the lower limbs, it may result in difficulty walking with reduced flexibility, and the left and right feet may cross over each other in a scissor-like manner.
2. Abnormal posture: Increased muscle tone may lead to abnormal postures, such as scissoring of the legs, caused by overactive adductor muscles in both lower limbs.
3. Muscle rigidity: Significantly increased and persistent muscle tone resembles spasms, which is a manifestation of severe hypertonia, such as decerebrate rigidity.
4. Movement disorders: Increased muscle tone can also affect daily activities, such as difficulty inserting arms into sleeves while dressing, difficulty spreading legs apart during diaper changes, and difficulty opening clenched fists when bathing.
