What causes peeling lips?
Disease description:
Recently, I don't know why my lips have been particularly dry, constantly peeling, and sometimes even cracking, which is very painful. May I ask what causes peeling lips?
Peeling lips may be caused by multiple factors:
1. Dehydration: One cause of peeling lips is prolonged lack of water intake, which can lead to dry mouth and directly result in dry, cracked, and peeling lips.
2. Dry air: Especially during autumn and winter, the weather tends to be dry, which can directly lead to dry lips and cause peeling.
3. Allergies: Some individuals have relatively sensitive constitutions; bacterial infection or allergic reactions on the lips may lead to cheilitis (lip inflammation), which often results in peeling lips.
4. Accumulated heat in the spleen and stomach: In fact, a significant cause of peeling lips could be excessive internal heat accumulation in the spleen and stomach, which directly leads to peeling lips.
5. Vitamin deficiency: If the lips become dry and start peeling, accompanied by white secretions at the corners of the mouth, this is often a sign of vitamin deficiency. It is advisable to consume more vegetables and fruits or take vitamin supplements to replenish essential vitamins.
