I know that Shuanghuanglian Oral Liquid can treat colds, but I'm not sure exactly which types of colds it is used for. I would like to ask the doctor: is Shuanghuanglian Oral Liquid used to treat colds caused by wind-cold or wind-heat?

Dr. He Haochen
Shuanghuanglian Oral Liquid is primarily used to treat wind-heat common cold. Its main ingredients include honeysuckle, baical skullcap root, and forsythia, all of which have functions of clearing heat and detoxifying, as well as dispersing wind and resolving exterior symptoms. Symptoms of wind-heat common cold typically include fever, cough, sore throat, yellow phlegm, yellow nasal discharge, and others. Shuanghuanglian Oral Liquid is specifically indicated for treating these symptoms. Additionally, it can also be used to treat influenza, bronchitis, pharyngitis, pneumonia, and tonsillitis. Shuanghuanglian Oral Liquid is contraindicated for patients with wind-cold common cold, because wind-cold common cold is usually caused by exposure to cold. Treatment should focus on pungent-warm diaphoresis, lung dispersion, and cold dissipation. Taking Shuanghuanglian Oral Liquid blindly may worsen symptoms. When using Shuanghuanglian Oral Liquid, patients should clearly distinguish whether they have wind-heat or wind-cold common cold to avoid improper medication use that could exacerbate their condition.
