Hazards of雾化 (Aerosolization)
Disease description:
A few days ago I had a cough and received nebulizer treatment. I would like to ask if there are any potential risks or harms associated with nebulizer therapy?

The main risks of nebulization include the following:
1. Bronchospasm: If the nebulization is administered too quickly or at an excessive dose, it may cause bronchospasm,表现为胸闷、气促加重等症状. (Note: This part appears to be in Chinese by mistake and should be translated as: "which may present with symptoms such as chest tightness and worsening shortness of breath.")
2. Acute pulmonary edema: Prolonged nebulization or drug overdose, especially when distilled water or other liquids are mistakenly poured into the inhalation chamber, may lead to excessive fluid entering the alveoli, causing acute pulmonary edema.
3. Airway obstruction: Commonly seen in frail elderly individuals and children who have weak coughing ability, leading to mucus retention in the trachea and possible airway obstruction.
4. Fungal infection: If the nebulized medication contains glucocorticoids or if the nebulizer is improperly cleaned and reused, it may cause fungal infections in the oral cavity.
Nebulization therapy is generally safe and effective. It is important to strictly follow medical instructions when undergoing nebulization treatment.
