What are the symptoms and risks of thalassemia?
My child was diagnosed with thalassemia, but I don't know much about this condition. I would like to ask, what are the symptoms and risks associated with thalassemia?

Thalassemia is a group of inherited blood disorders that primarily affect hemoglobin synthesis, leading to abnormal red blood cell function.
Symptoms of thalassemia:
1. Small red blood cell volume: Thalassemia is a genetic disorder. Due to disturbances in the synthesis of globin peptide chains, the production of globin peptides decreases, ultimately resulting in reduced average red blood cell volume.
2. Headache: Thalassemia can cause headaches, drowsiness, easy fatigue, and symptoms of headache when blood pressure is low.
3. Physical weakness: Thalassemia is a disorder characterized by impaired hemoglobin synthesis, which can easily cause hemolytic anemia, accompanied by symptoms such as fatigue and physical weakness.
Complications of thalassemia:
1. Progressive worsening of anemia: The anemia symptoms in patients with thalassemia gradually worsen, potentially leading to pallor, weakness, growth retardation, and depression.
2. Hereditary nature: When both parents carry the same type of disease-causing gene, their offspring have a certain probability of developing the condition.
