Disease description:

Every year as soon as summer arrives, there is an odor under the armpits, and the smell becomes stronger when sweating increases. I suspect it's caused by bromhidrosis (body odor). What are the typical symptoms of bromhidrosis?

People with bromhidrosis typically exhibit the following symptoms: 1. Distinct odor: A particular smell resembling the odor of fox urine emanates from areas such as the armpits and groin. This odor becomes more pronounced after sweating or during hot weather. The intensity of the smell varies among individuals and may be related to factors such as perspiration levels, age, and season. 2. Excessive sweat secretion: Patients with bromhidrosis have more active sweat glands in the armpit area, resulting in significant perspiration. This sweat often leaves visible stains on clothing and is accompanied by a noticeable unpleasant odor. 3. Excessive earwax: The external ear canals of individuals with bromhidrosis tend to produce abundant secretions containing sweat. These secretions have an oily consistency, making the ear canal more moist and sticky compared to average individuals. This condition is also known as "oily earwax." 4. Characteristics of underarm skin: The skin in the armpit area may appear moist and reddened. Occasionally, granular crystalline formations may develop in this region, primarily composed of condensed unsaturated fatty acids. Additionally, hair in the armpit area may be denser and coarser. 5. Discoloration of undergarments: Upon examination of the underarm area of worn underwear, yellowish staining or discoloration may be observed.
