Acne formation on the face is primarily attributed to the combined effects of multiple factors. Excessive secretion of androgens, especially during puberty, stimulates increased sebaceous gland activity, leading to overproduction of sebum, which forms the basis of acne development. Excessive sebum production and abnormal keratinization of the hair follicle openings can cause blockage of the sebaceous follicular duct, preventing normal sebum drainage and subsequent accumulation of sebum within the follicle, forming a lipid plug known as a comedone (acne). Additionally, unhealthy lifestyle habits such as chronic late-night stays, excessive fatigue, and improper diet, including excessive intake of high-sugar and high-fat foods, may also trigger acne. At the same time, improper cleansing habits, use of irritating cosmetics or skincare products, and bacterial infections are also common causes of acne formation.
