Patients with insufficient blood supply to the brain may experience symptoms such as altered mental status, impaired motor nerve function, and sensory dysfunction.

1. Altered mental status: Patients may feel drowsy throughout the day and have an overwhelming desire to sleep, which is considered a warning sign caused by insufficient cerebral blood supply. A minority of patients may experience insomnia and changes in personality, such as becoming withdrawn, quiet, or showing emotional indifference. Some patients may also experience brief episodes of loss of consciousness or impaired intellectual function.

2. Impaired motor nerve function: Common manifestations include drooling, aphasia or slurred speech, difficulty swallowing, weakness or impaired movement in limbs on one side of the body, unsteady gait, or sudden falls.

3. Sensory dysfunction: Some patients may feel numbness in the face, tongue, or lips; others may experience blurred vision or even sudden temporary blindness. Many patients may suddenly develop symptoms such as tinnitus and hearing loss.
