Dr. Liu Feng

The two-hour postprandial blood glucose, also known as the two-hour post-meal blood glucose, has a standard value of 3.9-7.8 mmol/L.

Generally speaking, the two-hour postprandial blood glucose refers to the blood glucose level measured two hours after the first bite of a meal. It is a simplified glucose tolerance test. The normal range is 3.9-7.8 mmol/L. If the level falls between 7.8-11.1 mmol/L, it indicates an abnormal increase but is not sufficient for a diagnosis of diabetes. If it exceeds 11.1 mmol/L, a diagnosis of diabetes can be made. Treatment for diabetic patients may include dietary management and exercise therapy. When diet and exercise alone are insufficient to achieve blood glucose control goals, antidiabetic medications may be prescribed under a physician's guidance.

For diabetic patients undergoing treatment, the two-hour postprandial blood glucose should be less than or equal to 10.0 mmol/L.
