What are the items included in prenatal checkups?
I'm approaching my due date and have recent checkups scheduled. Doctor, what are the items included in prenatal examinations?
Prenatal checkups are a series of health examinations that pregnant women undergo during pregnancy. These examinations generally include:
1. Physical examination: Measuring blood pressure, weight, abdominal circumference, and uterine height to assess the pregnant woman's general physical condition.
2. Blood tests: Checking for blood type, HIV, syphilis and other infectious diseases, as well as levels of nutrients such as iron, calcium, and vitamins, to evaluate the health status of the blood.
3. Urinalysis: Examining the urine for abnormalities such as protein, glucose, and white blood cells to assess the function of the urinary system.
4. Ultrasound: Using ultrasound to observe fetal development, including weight, size, sex, and organ development, as well as amniotic fluid volume and placental position.
5. Special tests: Such as amniocentesis or chorionic villus sampling to diagnose possible genetic diseases or chromosomal abnormalities in the fetus; glucose tolerance testing for women at higher risk of hyperglycemia or diabetes; and cervical length measurement to assess the risk of preterm labor.
Pregnant women are advised to undergo these examinations on schedule under a doctor's guidance.
