Disease description:

Recently, I heard about antibody titer, which is used to predict whether a child might have hemolysis. Could you please tell me what is the normal value for ABO antibody titer?

Dr. Zhang Lu

The normal range for ABO blood group antibody titer is generally below 1:64. This value indicates the concentration of anti-A or anti-B antibodies in the blood. This titer is measured during blood typing or pre-transfusion testing to ensure that, if a blood transfusion is performed, the patient's blood will not mount an excessive immune reaction against the donor's blood cells.

If the antibody titer is higher than normal, it may indicate that the individual has developed an immune response against non-self blood group antigens, which can occur in certain situations, such as after multiple pregnancies, previous blood transfusions, or exposure to foreign antigens.

If there are any concerns, please consult a relevant physician.
